High Reflection (HR) Dielectric coatings can be produced for a diverse range of substrates for the VIS, NIR, SWIR, and MWIR spectral regions.

Main Page

Dielectric mirrors, also known as Bragg mirrors, are a high-performance solution for achieving precision reflectivity in optical systems. Unlike metal coatings, dielectric mirrors use multi-layer thin film structures to reflect specific wavelengths with exceptional accuracy and minimal absorption.

Thanks to advanced thin-film deposition techniques, dielectric mirrors offer superior purity, uniformity, and compatibility with complex geometries. This makes them a preferred method for applications requiring high reflectivity, spectral selectivity, and long-term durability.

Custom Engineered Coatings

Intlvac systems can produce a wide variety of multilayer dielectric coatings tailored to your exact specifications. We support a broad selection of substrates and coating designs for use in the Visible (VIS), Near-Infrared (NIR), Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) and Mid-Wave Infrared (MWIR) spectral regions.

Whether you need a basic high-reflectivity mirror or a custom optical filter with sharp edge performance, Intlvac delivers coating solutions that meet both optical and environmental demands.

Available Dielectric Filter Types

1. Bandpass Filters

Function:

Transmit energy only within a selected wavelength band while rejecting all others.

Applications:

  • Laser systems
  • Fluorescence imaging
  • Spectroscopy.

Durability Standards:

  • Adhesion
  • Severe abrasion
  • Humidity resistance Tested to: MIL-C-675, MIL-M-13508, MIL-M-14806, MIL-C-48497, MIL-F-48616, MIL-STD-810F

2. Long Wave Pass (LWP) Filters

Function:

Transmit wavelengths longer than a specified cut-on value; block shorter wavelengths.

Applications:

  • IR imaging
  • Photodetector protection
  • Remote sensing.

Durability Standards:

Same as listed above.

3. Short Wave Pass (SWP) Filters

Function:

Transmit wavelengths shorter than a specified cutoff; block longer wavelengths.

Applications:

  • UV filtering
  • Fluorescence excitation
  • Optical instrumentation.

Durability Standards:

Same as listed above.

4. Neutral Density (ND) Filters

Function:

Reduce the intensity of incident light without altering its spectral profile. This is achieved by controlling the thickness of a metallic or dielectric layer to reach a target transmittance level.

Applications:

  • Laser attenuation
  • Imaging systems
  • Beam shaping.
